Human adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are isolated from human lipoaspirate tissue and cryopreserved from primary cultures. ADSCs have phenotypic and functional characteristics very similar to those of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. Before cryopreservation, the ADSCs are expanded for one passage in MesenPRO RS™ Medium, a revolutionary new reduced-serum (2%) medium that reduces ADSC doubling times. The StemPro® Human Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Kit contains cryopreserved normal human ADSCs and MesenPRO RS™ Medium - together, these components ensure optimal ADSC growth and expansion. Each lot of ADSCs originates from a single donor of human lipoaspirate tissue. Each vial of ADSCs contains cells that can differentiate into multiple mature cell phenotypes in vitro, including adipocytes, osteoblasts, and chondrocytes. ADSCs can be expanded to 4-5 passages before they lose their ability to grow or differentiate into all potential phenotypes. The ADSCs express the following flow cytometry cell-surface protein profile: positive CD29, CD44, CD73, CD90, CD105, CD166; negative CD14, CD31, CD45, Lin1.
