If you are experiencing high background signal or weak fluorescence in the blue, green, or red channels, see how BackDrop® Background Suppressor improves your results by cutting the haze and increasing contrast.
BackDrop® Background Suppressor gives you these benefits:
- Greatly reduced background fluorescence in live cell imaging with dyes and fluorescent proteins
- Higher signal-to-noise, improved sensitivity, and better results
- Convenience of direct addition to cells from dropper bottle
- Flexibility to modulate blue, green, or red background signal
Background signals from media components, non-specific labeling, or fluorophores in solution decrease signal-to-noise ratio and thus reduce assay sensitivity. The degree of background suppression varies with fluorophore, concentration, labeling efficiency, cells, and other conditions, but can often be significant (Figure 1). Add a few drops of BackDrop® Background Suppressor to your live cell imaging sample, eliminate background haze, improve image quality, and eliminate the need for medium removal and potential cell loss. BackDrop® Background Suppressor will allow you to either view cells without having to wash off unloaded dye, or to determine when cell loading is optimal.
Suppress Blue, Green, and Red Background
The blue, green, and red background suppressors are compatible with the Hoechst, FITC, and Texas Red filters, respectively. Choose the BackDrop® color where background is a problem, or combine all three. BackDrop® Background Suppressor is most effective if cells are photographed within one hour of application, though longer treatment will not harm cells.
Convenient and Easy to Use
BackDrop® Background Suppressor has been formulated for stability at room temperature. Simply keep the convenient box and dropper bottles by your imager or microscope and add two drops per ml whenever you are ready to label and view your cells—in high contrast.
