Qmount® Qdot® mounting media is a liquid mountant applied directly to Qdot® nanocrystal-labeled cell or tissue samples on microscope slides. Qmount® Qdot® mounting media is designed to preserve the fluorescence signal of Qdot® nanocrystals with little to no quenching of the initial signal intensity. Qmount® medium is a curing mountant that forms a near perfect optical path (1.5 RI) and allows longer-term storage of the sample. It comes ready to use (no mixing required)—just apply a drop to the sample, add a coverslip, cure, and image.

Key Attributes
  • Ready-to-use liquid that cures for longer-term storage
  • Mounted samples are stable for years
  • Maintains fluorescence signal—little to no quenching
  • Ideal for Qdot® nanocrystals
Get Photobleaching Protection Without Quenching
Qmount® Qdot® mounting media is a non-aqueous and permanent mountant that causes no significant loss of the fluorescence signal, either initially or over the longer-term (several months) (see Figure 1 in product manual).

Achieve Excellent Refractive Index Matching
For modern high-resolution imaging applications, refractive index matching is critical. Qmount® Qdot® mounting media cures within 12 hours and has a refractive index (RI) of 1.5 when fully cured. Each convenient and easy-to-use dropper bottle provides sufficient material for up to 20 coverslips.

Optimized for Use With Qdot® Nanocrystals
Because Qdot® nanocrystal emission will rapidly quench in non-organic mountants, including VectaShield® reagent and our own ProLong® Gold and SlowFade® Gold reagents, Qmount® Qdot® mounting media was developed to deliver optimal optical clarity and archiving of samples stained with Qdot® nanocrystals. It represents a significant improvement on the Cytoseal 60 mountant originally recommended in our literature and in the first studies with Qdot® nanocrystals. If the organic solvent used in Qmount® medium is not desirable, slides can be viewed with simple aqueous buffers, as the Qdot® nanocrystals are resistant to photobleaching under most standard imaging conditions. Copper, shown to be present as a contaminant in some fixatives, will quench Qdot® nanocrystals—the addition of 1 mM EDTA is recommended if concerns persist (Cytometry A 79:84 (2011)).

In addition, Qmount® Qdot® mounting media is compatible with the nuclear counterstain Qnuclear™ Deep Red Stain, making it a valuable tool for multicolor Qdot® nanocrystal imaging applications.

Qmount® Qdot® mounting media is not recommended for use with standard organic dyes or fluorescent proteins.
