Specificity for CD59
This antibody recognizes the CD59 antigen, also known as protectin, which inhibits the assembly of the C8 and C9 components of complement. This molecule also serves as an adhesion molecule through the binding of CD2 on T cells. The CD59 antigen is expressed on cells of both hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic origin.
