The CD4, clone S3.5, Alexa Fluor® 488 conjugate is a monoclonal mouse antibody that recognizes the CD4 antigen also known as T4 and L3T4. Based on our testing, publications, and results reported from customers, the Alexa Fluor® 488 dye provides the best fluorescein (FITC) substitute. The Alexa Fluor® 488 fluorescence emission profile is almost identical to that of fluorescein, and proivdes pH-insensitive fluorescence between pH 4 and 10.


Specificity for CD4
This antibody recognizes the CD4 antigen also known as T4 and L3T4. CD4 serves as a co-receptor during T-cell activation through the binding of MHC Class II molecules. CD4 is also the receptor for HIV. CD4 is expressed on helper T cells, thymocyte subsets, and to a lesser extent on peripheral blood monocytes.
