The E-Gel® SizeSelect™ 2% Agarose system is the most convenient method for the purification of DNA libraries for Next Generation Sequencing applications. With E-Gel® SizeSelect™ gels, you can separate and recover DNA for library construction in 3 easy steps: Load, Run, and Retrieve.
• Save time: Avoid additional gel purification steps required by other methods
• Simplify DNA Recovery: Remove purified DNA directly from the well with a pipette
• Improve Sequencing Results: Minimize DNA damage by using blue-light transillumination
• Improve Result Consistency: Eliminate tedious and error-prone gel extraction steps

How it Works
The E-Gel® SizeSelect 2% Agarose gel features two rows of wells. To extract a DNA band of interest without conventional gel purification, simply load your sample into the top row and electrophorese until your band moves into the bottom row of wells. Then, simply use a pipette to remove your purified DNA in the appropriate size range. Guides on the gel cassette help you track your target DNA band so you will know when it is ready for retrieval. The 2% agarose concentration is ideal for separating bands of up to 1 kb in length.

Better Results
The direct access to your sample from the retrieval well (see figure below) allows you to avoid the need to excise gel band slices and risk losing your DNA during a gel purification step.

A Self-Contained Power System
E-Gel® SizeSelect 2% Agarose gels run in the E-Gel® iBase™ Power System (see E-Gel Electrophoresis System image below). This self-contained device includes a built-in power supply. Simply connect the AC adaptor provided and plug into an electrical outlet. View program selection and running time on the easy-to-read LCD display. Preset programs are available for various gel types or you can manually set your own run times. A reverse program allows you to change the field direction, ensuring complete capture of DNA. In addition, the EGel® iBase™ Power System includes an automatic shutoff feature to ensure that you will not overrun your gel. The E-Gel® iBase™ Power System fits on a Safe Imager™ Blue-Light Transilluminator, which allows you to safely monitor DNA bands migrate in real-time. Bluelight transillumination, such as ones found in the E-Gel Imager and the Safe Imager™ 2.0 Blue-Light Transilluminator, can be used to view the proprietary stain used in the E-Gel SizeSelect 2% Agarose Gels. This gives the greater safety to the user and prevents DNA damage associated with the use of ethidium bromide and UV transillumination.
