1.2% Clear E-Gels are bufferless, pre-cast agarose gels designed for fast, efficient DNA analysis with flexible downstream staining options. Each Clear E-Gel® cassette is a self-contained electrophoresis system that includes agarose, electrodes, and ion-exchange matrix (IEM) in a UV-transparent cassette. Clear E-Gels are supplied with 1.2% agarose in a 12-well, single comb E-Gel® format that resolves DNA bands between 100 bp and 5 Kb. The absence of ethidium bromide allows you to:

• Post-stain gels with sensitive stains such as SYBR® Green I or II, SYBR® Gold (Figure 1), or Vistra Green™

• Analyze DNA fragments pre-labeled with fluorescein or Texas Red®

• Determine accurate size of the DNA bands (most DNA staining dyes affect DNA molecular weight)

• Stain only one lane of the gel and then excise a specific band or size range in the remaining gel (avoids UV exposure that can damage DNA fragments)
