The Ambion® Poly(A)Purist™ Kit is for the selection of mRNA from total RNA or cells or tissue. This rapid, robust method enriches for mRNA with less rRNA carryover than other methods. Each kit contains sufficient reagents for 6 purifications of mRNA from 2 mg of total RNA.

The superior performance of the Poly(A)Purist™ Kit is clearly demonstrated by a comparison of the mRNA recovered using 4 other kits (see Figure). The kit uses batch binding of RNA to premeasured aliquots of oligo(dT) cellulose to circumvent the problems of slow flow rates and clogged columns often experienced during conventional, gravity-driven chromatography. A spin cartridge is used in the wash and elution steps for speed and convenience. Further time savings are realized because a single round of selection with the Poly(A)Purist™ Kit is comparable to two or three rounds of selection using conventional technology. This vastly decreases the processing time required to isolate highly pure poly(A) RNA.
