Labeled cadaverine is often used as a tracing molecule because it is relatively small, water-soluble and can be fixed in cells by treatment with formaldehyde or glutaraldehyde. This exceptionally bright Alexa Fluor 647 cadaverine has absorption/emission maxima of ~650/668 nm (spectrally similar to Cy5 dye).
