Gibco® SensiCell™ MEM (Minimum Essential Medium) is an enriched basal medium that enhances growth of sensitive or difficult-to-culture mammalian cells with standard Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) supplementation. Compared to classic MEM, SensiCell™ MEM is formulated with GlutaMAX™ and additional nutrients that can increase cell viability and viable cell density. SensiCell™ MEM requires supplementation, commonly with 10% Fetal Bovine Serum. Many cell lines do not require adaptation to this media.

SensiCell™ MEM uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system (2.2 g/L) and therefore requires a 5–10% CO2 environment to maintain physiological pH. Cells successfully cultured in SensiCell™ MEM, with little or no adaptation, include Caco-2, HL-60, and Sp2/0-Ag-14.

This SensiCell™ MEM is manufactured as follows:

WithWithout
• GlutaMAX™• HEPES
• Glucose
• Non-essential amino acids
• Sodium pyruvate
• Phenol Red
