Specific for CD38
CD38, also known as cyclic ADP ribose hydrolase, is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as a hydrolase, which is expressed in variable levels on terminally differentiated plasma B cells, thymocytes, T cells, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells and some epithelial cells. In humans, CD38 is expressed at high levels on plasma cells and activated T and B cells. It is also expressed in some non-hematopoietic tissues, such as brain, muscles, and kidneys. CD38 mediates lymphocyte activation, cell adhesion, and the metabolism of cADPR and NAADP. The ligand of CD38 is CD31.
