The CD43, clone 1B11, APC conjugate is a rat monoclonal antibody (mAb) that recognizes the activation-associated glycoform of CD43. APC (allophycocyanin) is one of the brightest dyes used today. It is a stable and highly soluble phycobiliprotein, which provides maximal absorbance and fluorescence without susceptibility to internal or external fluorescence quenching. APC provides almost perfect quantum efficiencies and molar extinction coefficients. Use of APC in antibody conjugates results in probes with greatly enhanced detectability.

Specific for CD43
CD43, also known as leukosialin or sialophorin, is a large single chain type I transmembrane glycoprotein receptor. It plays roles in promoting and inhibiting cell adhesion, co-stimulating T-cell activation and survival, and inducing apoptosis in T-cells and hematopoietic progenitors. The two isoforms (CD43 115-kD glycoform and CD43 130-kD glycoform) differ with respect to the structure of their attached O-glycans. Interestingly, their expression is also mutually exclusive. CD43 115-kD glycoform is expressed on T lymphocytes, NK cells, monocytes, granulocytes, platelets, and CD5+ B cells; while CD43 130-kD glycoform is primarily expressed on myeloid cells, pre-B cells, and activated T cells. The CD43, clone 1B11, rat monoclonal antibody (mAb) recognizes the activation-associated 130-kDa glycoform.
