The I-Ab, clone AF6-120.1, APC conjugate is a mouse monoclonal antibody (mAb) that recognizes the I-Ab MHC class II alloantigen. APC (allophycocyanin) is one of the brightest dyes used today. It is a stable and highly soluble phycobiliprotein, which provides maximal absorbance and fluorescence without susceptibility to internal or external fluorescence quenching. APC provides almost perfect quantum efficiencies and molar extinction coefficients. Use of APC in antibody conjugates results in probes with greatly enhanced detectability.

Specific for I-Ab
The I-Ab mouse monoclonal antibody (mAb) reacts with the I-Ab haplotype of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules, which are predominantly expressed on antigen presenting cells that include B lymphocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and certain epithelial cells. MHC Class II molecules are also expressed on a subset of T-cells from mice with the H-2b haplotype, as well as being involved in antigen presentation to T-cells expressing CD3/TCR and CD4 receptors. The I-Ab mouse mAb crossreacts with H-2k and H-2u haplotypes, but not other haplotypes (d, f, q, r, s).
