The SSEA-4, clone eBioMC-813-70 (MC-813-70), Alexa Fluor® 488 conjugate is a mouse monoclonal antibody (mAb) that recognizes the SSEA-4 (stage-specific embryonic antigen-4) protein. Based on our testing, publications, and results reported from customers, the Alexa Fluor® 488 dye provides the best fluorescein (FITC) substitute available. The Alexa Fluor® 488 fluorescence emission profile is almost identical to that of fluorescein and provides pH-insensitive fluorescence between pH 4 and 10.

SSEA-4
The mouse anti-human SSEA4 monoclonal antibody (mAb) recognizes the stage-specific embryonic antigens (SSEAs), which are cell-surface molecules that exhibit lineage-restricted patterns of expression during development. SSEA4 act as a surface marker for human embryonic stem cells (ES). It is also expressed on the surface of human embryonal carcinoma (EC) cells, human embryonic germ cells (EG), mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), and in early neuroepithelium. Besides expression in embryonic cells, SSEA4 is also present in human erythrocytes.
