This antibody is purified IgG fraction from rabbit serum raised against Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP). The GFP was isolated directly from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria. The IgG fraction was purified by ion-exchange chromatography to remove nonspecific immunoglobulins and is conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP).

Recommended for use in:
Western blotting
Immunocytochemistry

Expression of the intrinsically fluorescent Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) from Aequorea victoria is a popular method for detecting nuclear and organelle staining, visualizing a wide variety of intracellular proteins, and monitoring gene expression and various physiological processes.

Invitrogen's Antibodies Extend Your Capabilities for GFP Detection
GFP fluorescence may be undetectable due to low expression or as a result of certain immunohistochemical techniques, such as paraffin embedding of fixed tissue. In these cases, GFP detection may still be possible through utilization of a good GFP antibody. GFP antibodies also expand the range of techniques available for GFP detection to include Western blotting and immunocytochemistry.

Obtain Outstanding Results with Invitrogen's Wide Assortment of GFP Antibodies
All of Invitrogen's GFP antibodies are suitable for the detection of native GFP, GFP variants, and most GFP fusion proteins by western blot analysis; the rabbit antibodies are also useful for immunoprecipitation.

Part of the Invitrogen Family of Antibodies
Along with antibodies to GFP and RFP (Red Fluorescent Protein), Invitrogen offers a broad selection of high quality primary antibodies against a multitude of targets, including cell signaling proteins, CD markers, organelles, and cell junctions. Our phospho-specific antibodies and other modification- and isoform-specific antibodies have been validated in a variety of applications including Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and flow cytometry. In addition, we provide a full range of secondary antibodies.
