EGFr gene amplification has been associated with 40% of glioblastoma multiforme cases, 8-20% of head and neck cancers, 8-14% of esophageal cancers, 3-6% of gastric cancers, and 2% of breast tumors. The importance and relationship between EGFr gene amplification and EGFr expression still remains to be fully understood. Although increased levels of EGFrs are not necessarily a result of EGFr gene amplification, studies have demonstrated a positive correlation between gene amplification and overexpression. Use with: Spot-Light CISH Polymer Detection Kit (cat. no. 84-9246) and Spot-Light Tissue Pretreatment Kit (cat. no. 00-8401).
Specificity: This DIG-labeled probe has been demonstrated to bind specifically to the EGFr gene locus on chromosome band 7p12. Chromosomal localization and specificity have been established by FISH analysis of metaphase preparations derived from normal lymphocytes.
Applications: CISH (Chromogenic In Situ Hybridization)
