Specific for IL-8 (Sw)
Interleukin (IL)-8 is a pro inflammatory factor which belongs to the C-X-C subfamily of chemokines. It functions as a chemoattractant and a potent angiogenic factor. The expression and secretion of IL-8 can be induced by diverse inflammatory stimuli in many cells, including macrophages and endothelial cells (EC). In endothelial cells IL-8 is present in storage vesicles called Weibel-Palade bodies. There are two different cell surface receptors for IL-8: alpha and beta.
