EIF2A is a heterotrimer composed of three subunits (alpha, beta, and gamma) encoding the eukaryotic initiation factor 2A. This translation initiation factor was purified from rabbit reticulocytes and shown to drive binding of initiator methionyl-tRNA (met-tRNAi) to the 40S ribosome in an AUG-dependent manner to form 43S pre-initiation complex (1). This polypeptide can be phosphorylated by related protein kinases activated in response to stress. Phosphorylated EIF2A inhibits EIF2B activity and prevents guanine nucleotide exchange (2).Obtain More Reliable Data
