Specific for Histone H3 [pS10]
Histone H3 is one of 5 histone proteins that is involved in the nucleosome core, around which DNA tightly wraps to form the chromatin structure in eukaryotic cells. Protruding from the globular nucleosome core, the N-terminal tail of histone H3 may undergo several different types of post-translational modifications. Histone H3 is known to be the most post-translationally modified of all histones; hence, it has a growing importance in the field of epigenetics, since its highly variant sequences and variable modification states are thought to play a role in the dynamic and long term regulation of genes that influence cellular processes. Mammalian cells have 3 known histone H3 sequence variants called Histone H3.1, Histone H3.2, and Histone H3.3. The sequences of these variants are highly conserved and differ only by a few amino acids. The purified oligoclonal recombinant rabbit IgG antibody recognizes Histone H3 specifically at the phosphorylated serine at the 10th amino acid position.
