Specific for IL-4
Interleukin 4 (IL-4) is a cytokine which induces the differentiation of naive helper T-cells to Th2 cells. It belongs to the family of glycoprotein growth factors which plays a major role in regulation of hematopoiesis. This cytokine also stimulates growth, differentiation, and activation of B cells, and also acts as a growth factor for T-cells and mast cells. It induces proliferation of T lymphocytes, inhibition of apoptosis, and immunoglobulin class-switching in B cells. IL-4 decreases the production of Th1 cells and macrophages, and down-regulates IFN-γ and dendritic cell IL-12.
