Life Technologies' oligoclonal antibodies are a pool of monoclonal rabbit IgG antibodies targeted against a specific antigen. Oligoclonal antibodies are produced by transfection of mammalian cells with heavy and light chain antibody cDNAs. This provides you with the highest consistency between lots, eliminating the need to revalidate your assays for each lot.

Interleukin 2 (IL-2), also known as T-cell growth factor, is a secreted cytokine of approximately 15 kDa that plays an important role in the proliferation of B cells and T lymphocytes. IL-2 determines if a T-cell proliferates and matures into an effector cell, which promotes secretion of more IL-2. IL-2 is critical in initiating adaptive immune responses. When T-cells recognize an antigen in the absence of IL-2 co-stimulation, they become anergic and unable to secrete IL-2. It is this mechanism that leads to T-cell tolerance to antigens expressed on tissue cells. The IL-2 Receptor is a three-chain structure expressed only on activated T cells.

As with traditional IgG antibodies, gel electrophoresis of rabbit oligoclonal antibodies produces a 150 kDa band under non-reducing conditions and 50 kDa and 25 kDa bands under reducing conditions.
