Specific for IL6
IL6 is an interleukin protein (24 kDa) encoded by the Il6 gene (Ref 1). It is secreted by T-cells and macrophages during immune response to tissue damage and trauma, ultimately leading to inflammatory response (Ref 3, 4, 6). IL-6 has been indicated in several diseases such as diabetes (Ref 5), prostate cancer (Ref 8), and rheumatoid arthritis (Ref 7). Physiologically, IL6 synthesis is stimulated by endotoxins, PDGF, TNF, etc.
