The Buccal DNA Collector™, manufactured by Bode Technology and distributed by Life Technologies¹, is an easy-to-use non-invasive device designed for the collection of cheek buccal cells for human DNA identification analysis. No transfer step is required after collection, which increases sample integrity and DNA yield for downstream processing. In addition, the design facilitates automated processing with BSD Punching Systems (BSD Robotics) while maintaining chain of custody control.

The Buccal DNA Collector™ consists of three components:
• Handle with support manufactured from medical grade plastic
• Collection paper manufactured and tested under cGMP guidelines
• Sliding cover to protect and provide ventilation of the collection paper

Samples collected with the Buccal DNA Collector™ can be easily processed using the Applied Biosystems Prep-n-Go™ Buffer. The Prep-n-Go™ Buffer has been validated and optimized to enable high quality direct PCR amplification of reference samples collected with the Buccal DNA Collector™–without the need for incubation, extraction or purification–and to help increase first pass success rates with Applied Biosystems® STR amplification solutions.
