This mouse anti-human ALK monoclonal antibody is specific to human ALK 400. ALK monoclonal antibody recognizes the expressed product of the ALK gene. ALK has been found in cases of large B-cell lymphomas that lack the t(2:5). Validated applications for ALK monoclonal antibody are Western blotting and immunoprecipitation.

Anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALCL), an aggressive subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, is characterized by CD30+ large neoplastic cells and frequently contains the (2:5)(p23:g35) translocation. The (2:5) translocation results in the produdtion of a chimeric 80 kDa protein, NPM-ALK (Nucleophosmin-Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase) or p80. However, ALK has also been found in cases of large B-cell lymphomas that lack the t(2:5). The ALK+ subset of ALCL has been studied in several recent papers. It has been proposed that ALK+ ALCL is a separate clinicopathologic entity, ALK lymphoma that is distinct from ALK-ALCL. Significantly, it has been reported that ALK lymphoma has a different prognosis than ALK- ALCL.
