The perinucleolar compartment (PNC) is a structure localized at the periphery of the nucleolus. Thus far the PTB (polypyrimidine tract binding protein) as well as small RNAs (i.e. Y RNA's, MRP RNA, and RNase P H1 RNA) have been identified in the PNC. Studies conducted to characterize the structure of the PNC, revealed that RNA binding may be required for PTB to be localized in the PNC.

Mouse anti-PTB monoclonal antibody reacts with the C-terminus of the human and rodent PTB protein. Mouse anti-PTB monoclonal antibody is confirmed reactive with human, mouse and rat. Reactivity with other species has not been tested.
