Ideal for Difficult Cloning Projects
Library Efficiency® DH5α™ Competent Cells are recommended for routine cloning of genes into large plasmids, and are suitable for difficult clone constructions, such as blunt-end ligations. Library Efficiency® DH5α™ Competent Cells have mid-range transformation efficiency (>1 x 108 cfu/ µg control DNA per 100 µl reaction). The strain also has the Φ80lacZΔM15 genotype, providing for the option of blue/white screening on plates containing either X-Gal or Bluo-Gal. Finally, the recA1 mutation helps reduce the rate of recombination while propagating plasmid DNA, and the endA1 mutation makes DH10B™ an excellent vehicle for amplifying plasmid DNA for subsequent extraction and purification.
