Full Product Description
This antibody reacts specifically with MITF protein. Microphthalmia transcription factor (MITF), a nuclear protein that is essential to the development and survival of melanocytes, regulates the transcription of genes involved in melanogenesis. MITF also serves as a regulator in modulating extracellular signals, such as those triggered by α-MSH and c-Kit ligand. MITF expression is highly conserved in primary and metastatic melanomas, and can be used as a highly sensitive and specific melanocytic marker. Our MITF antibody is a cocktail that includes clones C5 and D5. C5 recognizes both mouse and human MITF, while D5 only recognizes human MITF. A cocktail with both clones has shown greater sensitivity than either alone. Positive tissue: Melanoma.
