This purified Mouse E-Cadherin Monoclonal Antibody is specific to Human E-Cadherin. In addition to playing important roles in differentiation and tissue morphogenensis, cadherins also appear to play a significant role in modulating tumor invasion and metastasis. E-Cadherin monoclonal antibody can be used in qualitative applications such as western blotting and immunoprecipitaiton. This monoclonal antibody can also be used in quantitative applications such as ELISA and the inhibition of E-cadherin-dependent cell-to-cell contact.

E-cadherin (uvomorulin, cell-CAM120/80) is a calcium-dependent cell-adhesion molecule expressed predominately in epithelial tissues. This 120 kDa trasmembrane glycoprotein is localized predominately to the lateral cell border and is associated with the contractile cytoskeleton. E-cadherin molecules exhibit homophilic binding interactions and play a central role in cellular organization and morphogenetic regulation. Numerous studies have demonstrated that reduction and/or loss of E-cadherin expression in carcinomas correlates positively with the potential of these tumors for invasion and metastasis.
