Actinomycin D belongs to the class of polypeptide antibiotics and is isolated from bacteria of the genus Streptomyces. Actinomycin D acts by interfering with mRNA synthesis. Actinomycin D is used as a selective antibiotic for resistant bacteria, generally at a concentration of about 1 µg / ml.
