Melanoma cell adhesion molecule (MCAM/CD146), recombinant human protein is supplied as a lyophilized powder. It is suitable for use in cell biology research applications. It can also be used as a protein standard.

This recombinant protein was expressed from a DNA sequence encoding the extracellular domain (Met 1-Gly 559) of human MCAM precursor (NP_006491.2) fused to the Fc region of human IgG1 at the C-terminus.

Activity: Measured by the ability of the immobilized protein to support the adhesion of the HUVEC human umbilical vein endothelial cell line . When 3 x 104 cells/well are added to human CD146 coated plates (0.8 µg/ml, 100 µl/well), approximately >30 % will adhere after one hour at 37°C.

Formulation: Lyophilized in PBS, pH7.4, 5% Mannitol, 5% Trehalose, and 0.02% Tween-80.

Reconstitution: Dissolve the protein in sterile double distilled water to a concentration of 25 mg/ml or lower. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted and be used as soon as possible. Store aliquots under sterile conditions at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Expiration Date: Expires one year from date of receipt when stored as instructed.
